2014 Density (est.): 133

TTC Connections: 47+ Lansdowne, 402 Parkdale

Macdonell station is located at Lansdowne Avenue and the GO Weston tracks. It will provide subway service to eastern Roncesvalles, Parkdale, and Brockton neighbourhoods, and connect with the 47+ Lansdowne bus as well as the 402 Parkdale.

Macdonell will provide access to the colourful neighbourhoods of Roncesvalles and Parkdale. Roncesvalles is known for its restaurants, traditional smokehouses, bakeries, and trendy fashion178. The area frequently draws visitors from around the city who wish to experience some old world charm. Parkdale dates back to 1879 and it is an area that has been experiencing recent rejuvenation179. Parkdale has unique architecture, nature, and diversity that consistently attracts those with an artistic flare and property in this area is now in high demand179.

Macdonell station is surrounded by stable neighbourhoods of low density housing. It will provide the residents of these neighbourhoods with quick access to the downtown core as well as Dundas West station on the Bloor-Danforth Line. Due to the stability of the neighbourhood as well as zoning bylaws it is unlikely that any future development will occur in the area.

If cost savings need to occur Macdonell can be eliminated due to its close proximity to Sorauren station which is a mere 700 m away. Eliminating Macdonell will save approximately 150 million dollars.
